Andrea was a modern, independent Allarian woman who had grown up with the belief that women were every bit as capable of handling tough situations as men. So naturally, the first thing she did was scream as loud as she could. Ever since she had run away from her parents' castle to become an adventurer a few months ago, she had always been vaguely aware that she might experience something along the lines of being grabbed by a lurking half-glimpsed cave horror, but had always assumed that she wouldn't experience any fear. She would face any evil she encountered along the way fearlessly and with style, just like Princess Astra.
But she now realized that she was not a Princess Astra, but rather a fairly normal 18-year-old girl from the Great Kingdom who had not been trained at all for this sort of thing. Of course, women were trained to fight as well as men, as Allaria had to put every good person it could afford into the Clone Wars. This was what had broken down a lot of the gender barriers in the past twenty years. But Andrea had been trained only to fight armed humans or clones, and had never expected to see anything like this outside of a traveller's tale. What's more, Andrea had never really expected the war to come to the minor county of DeCroix. She had lived most of her life without experiencing the fear of death. And now it was grabbing onto her leg and sinking its tentacles in ever deeper. She had to think. She had to be resourceful.
