Witness Protection?

"Yeah, well, Weston II is a dangerous planet." I was trying hard to sound casual, but my heart was starting to beat a little faster.

More click-whistling. I was really starting to get sick of the sound of it. Why couldn't any of these bug guys learn GalEng, for crying out loud?

"My master wishes to inform you," said the android, "that the Westonian Naval vessel Indefatigable survived its encounter with the Ibornite ship that engaged it, and was able to send a report back to this world."

I blinked stupidly.

"He says," the 'droid continued, "that you must understand that they will wish to eliminate you as a witness."

"A witness to what?" I stared into tube-face's faceted eyes, trying to read his intentions, but he was as expressionless as his android. "And why do you care? For that matter, who are you?"

1. "There is no time," said the Ib, via his translator. "You must come with me!"
2. The Ib made to answer, but he was cut off in mid-click as his torso exploded. He'd been shot from behind!
3. "I will explain," came the reply, "But not until we are safely off-world. We will leave immediately in your ship."
