Irena smiled ruefully. "That is a kind thought, Lord," she said, "but I fear that the Dragon's caves may be rather lacking in shops selling clothing."

"Please call me Fred. Though Lord is my first name, I never use it. It confuses people too much. I've got a spare set of underwear in my pack which you could have. My mother told me never to go on a quest without spare underwear."

"Your mother was clearly a very wise woman. Would you show me your underwear, please?" Then she giggled, realising that she could have put that better.

1. Irena was, though beautiful, surprisingly big, so Fred's underwear fit her well.
2. Fred's underwear was much too large for Irena, but she was able to wear the undervest as a very short dress.
3. Irina took one look at the gray, coarse, thick woollen garments and shook her head decisively.
