"Yes, that ties in with what we know. All right, you're in the clear."
The Colonel scornfully looked me over with his ice-cold, appraising eyes one last time. "Carry on, Captain," he said with a mock-grin. "We apologize for any...inconvenience. Oh, and we wont be needing this..." He dropped the pressure suit and casually turned and walked away. Sure he was sorry. I didn't like this guy, he was a real creep. I didn't trust him one bit, either! What was he up to!? I had a really bad feeling... Still, I couldn't help but feel relieved as the last of the Westonian Navymen trooped and shuffled their way back into the airlock like a bunch of damn penguins! Good riddance! I was still suspicious, though. Something wasn't right, so I wasn't going to let my guard down just yet.Several tense moments painfully crept past as I awaited them to clear me for undocking... They finally cleared me after what had seemed an eternity. Well...I'll be damned! I guess they really were going to leave me alone! Whew! Another dangerous scenario narrowly avoided by Fred Donair, interstellar smuggler! Obviously the Westonians were after bigger fish in the pond today! Thank God!A few minutes later we were undocked and I was preparing to resume course to Weston II. I would have some stories to tell in the taverns on that savage little planet! I was in a particularly good mood... ...when it happened; without warning or provocation, the Indefatigable opened fire on the Princess Astra! This couldn't be happening! This was NOT standard Naval protocol for dealing with smugglers! Two torpedoes struck their mark, violently tearing into the hull. The force of the impact sent me toppling over the control panels, head over heels, nearly knocking me out of my wits. Luckily, I was able to recover in time to realize three more torpedoes were closing in. God help me! They were going to incinerate me! I couldn't take on a Westonian BattleCruiser in a head to head confrontation! But it looked like I was going to have to! I powered up the shields and weapons systems and prepared to engage evasive maneuvers to avoid the incoming torpedoes. If they wanted a fight, then they'd get one! The odds were stacked against me, but when had they ever been in my favor!? What a rush! I hadn't felt like this since I had threaded the tail of a comet on a dare! Ah, who was I fooling!? I was a dead man!
