Arriving at the King's castle, Fred bid a cheery "Hello, Bill" to the
guard at the gate, a man he knew well.
"Hello. Do I know you?" the guard asked, looking puzzled. "Bill, it's me, Lord Frederigo D'Honaire," Fred said. "I've come to get some reinforcements to help me in my quest to kill the dragon. A wizard would be particularly useful." Bill removed his helmet and scratched his head. "Charles D'Honaire, Duke of Suffex, has six sons, but there isn't a Fredrigo among them." "I don't understand this," Fred said. "Ah, there's Sir Josh, just coming out of the castle. Hey, Sir Josh!" Sir Josh walked over. "Yes?" he said. "Who are you? And who's your lady friend?" (Sir Josh always did have an eye for the ladies.) "I'm Fred D'Honaire, of course. And this is Princess Astra of Aqualaria. She should be an honoured guest in the castle." "I've never heard of a Fred D'Honaire. Nor a Princess Astra, come to that. The Aqualarian princesses are called Belinda and Carola. Now good day to you." With that. Sir Josh walked away. What strange magic has happened here? Has either the dragon or the Guardian of the Exit played a trick on our heroes, and transported them to an alternate reality? Or is the whole population of Caemlyn under some enchantment?
