We dickered for the appropiate time and we finally settled on a good amount of fuel (with a little extra for safety) for ...

  1. three long-range, survival space-suits.
  2. a recharge of my laser banks.
  3. a flatcat. They were small predators that lived on a ship. They ate ambient radiation. This was worth an extra ten thousand credits off my insurance premiums. I was in luck!
  4. bacon. (I knew a small colony off the Rigel rim that worshipped bacon).
  5. an artificial intelligence to help run my ship.
