Astra looked at the rock wall above them. The first ten feet or so of the
wall was almost
vertical, but there were a few potential finger and toe-holds. Above that,
the slope
was about seventy degrees where the ledge had sheared away. "We can climb
back up," she said
to Ardua. "Once we reach the level we were at before, we can edge sideways
to where
the ledge is undamaged. I'm afraid we are going to have to discard our
boots and do this
barefoot, though, if we want to make the most of those toe-holds."
So they took off their boots and began to climb.
