"In that case, a spell of concealment would seem to be in order," Sir Boris says. "Shall I do the honours, or will you, Vincent?"

"You can," Dr Vincent replies, grumpily.

Sir Boris gestures, and says some stuff that sounds like gibberish to The Seeker. When he has finished, everything beyond a circle about ten yards in radius centred on themselves seems to become dim and shimmering. "Everything within the circle is hidden from anyone outside it," Sir Boris explains. "Unless we are unlucky enough that their course takes them right into the circle, they can neither see us nor hear us."

The hoofbeats get louder for a while, and then they start to get fainter again. The three of them relax a little.

1. "How much longer are you going to keep Karen and Aaron frozen like that?" The Seeker asks, beginning to become worried about them.
2. Vincent resumes his much interrupted explanation.
