Drunken lips let slip....

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 20539

As you leave the village, you hear someone behind you. It sounds as though he's very drunk. He's probably just returning home, and even if he does notice you, he probablywon't care. Still, to be safe, you duck behind a tree.

You wait quietly for him to pass by. Before he's gone, though, you hear someone else running from the village. He passes the tree, then says, in a low voice, "Where are you going?"

The other man's voice says, with a slurred voice, "'M goin' back to the camp."

"You fool!" says the first voice. "We have our orders; we're not to go back to the camp until we finish our business here."

"But..." the second voice protests.

"Come on," the first voice. "Our men are starving; we need supplies. I told you not to drink to much; we need clear heads for the attack."

The second man snorts.

"I should have known better than to bring you," the first man says, his voice getting farther away as he returns to the village. "We need to be careful if we're going to get away with this. Fortunately, as far as King Hengist knows, the New Amazons are still loose in the forest, so we can try to make it look like they did it." He pauses, then says, "Just keep quiet and don't tell anyone what we're doing. Actually, maybe you should just go to the room and..." His voice disappears into the distance.

You wait for a few moments, then start running back to where Sarah and Aaron are waiting. You have to act fast; it sounds as though some of Samuel's soldiers may be planning to do something in the village tonight. It sounds like there are only a few of them in the village, so the three of you can probably take them all on if you get into a fight.

On the other hand, it might be better if you don't tell them and just continue toward the pass. You still need secrecy, and you don't want Samuel's soldiers to know you're alive.

When you reach Sarah and Aaron...

  1. ...you tell them about the soldiers.
