Aaron nods. "I understand. Interrogate them, then."
Elinor walks away. You start to follow her, by Aaron grabs you by the arm. He shakes his head, then leads you off to the edge of the clearing in silence. "We have to be careful," he says. "We don't know what we've gotten ourselves into." "But these are the New Amazons," you say. "They're on our side. Surely we can trust..." "This isn't just a war," Aaron says. "This is politics, and in the world of politics there's never a clear-cut right or wrong. We can continue on with the Amazons for now, but we should remain cautious. We don't really know who we're dealing with here." You nod. Then Aaron says, "I need to think this over." He walks away. You know he's right. It's hard to tell who to trust anymore. You know you can trust Aaron; he's proved that to you by now. You could trust Alyssa if she were here, but she's back at the abbey. Beyond them, though, you don't know who you can believe. After all, the King's not trustworthy. or his army, or even your own father. You're in the middle of something very complex, and it's more complex because you can't remember anything past the last few days. "Karen?" says a voice behind you. You turn to see a young woman, a couple of years older than you. She looks at you in surprise. "Karen, is that you?" "Yes," you say. She hugs you. "I can't believe you're alive!" she says. "How did you escape? You were at the fortress, weren't you? We've been up there! No one could have survived that battle! Even Princess Illura died!" Whoever this is, she obviously knows you. You start to tell her about your escape, but then you realize that you can't tell it truthfully without mentioning your amnesia, and you're not sure if it's a good idea to tell the Amazons about it or not.
