The New Amazonian Rescue

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 20522

The dozen or so New Amazons quickly get the upper hand. Soon all the defenders are either dead or taken prisoner. The New Amazons have lost one dead, and have two wounded. When they open the wagon and discover you and Aaron, their leader, a strapping yet handsome woman who says her name is Elinor, tells you:

"When we saw a prison wagon escorted by half a dozen guards, we thought it was worth investigating. Anyone that the king wishes brought to him, we intend to see he doesn't get. I can understand his wanting to gloat over a captured New Amazon (which, from the shortness of your hair I assume that you are). But who is the man, and why was he a prisoner?" You begin: "This is -", when Aaron shakes his head slightly. He is obviously uncertain as to how these women would react if aware that they had the king's son in their hands. You finish: "- Aaron, a friend of mine, and a supporter of our cause, which is how he came to be arrested." Elinor raises an eyebrow. "A rare bird indeed," she says. "Welcome, Aaron."

You and Aaron are found weapons and armour from amongst the vanquished defenders' belongings. You are surprised at how much more comfortable you feel with a sword at your side. (You still have the chains attached to your wrists - it will need a blacksmith to remove them.) Elinor explains that her platoon had been sent out on a reconnaissance mission a day or so before the battle, but unfortunately not in the direction from which the king's army actually came. When they returned, they found that the battle had been fought and lost. "So we decided to fight on as guerillas," finishes Elinor, "though it now seems a hopeless cause." "Have you thought of getting help from Daria?" Aaron asks. "No," says Elinor. "Should we have?" "When we were captured, we were on our way there," Aaron tells her. He goes on to say that King Eric is known to be sympathetic to the New Amazon cause, but that he (Aaron) has reason to think that Prince Samuel may have usurped him.

Elinor says:

  1. "Before I decide what to do, I want to interrogate the prisoners. They seemed awfully scruffy to be king's men, as I had at first assumed, and I'd like to know to whom they owe allegiance."
