End of a Hunt and Hard Decisions (Part 1)

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 20362

"I lost him!" Andrea growls, momentarily dropping her disguise and revealing that she's shifted into her humanoid fox form in frustration!

Meanwhile, as Andrea then composes herself....

Deep inside a secure location, behind guards and other means of security, the one known as Brill is in conference with an old friend who's only gotten part of the situation they are facing.

"You brought your niece here?" Bernard Abbot asks Brill, incredulously.

"Wasn't like I had much choice," Brill said, almost defensively, "She was right there when I came across....well....the item."

Such verbal tapdancings are almost a prerequisite for Brill's line of work.

"Well, I...guess we might be able to do something civilized about her," Abbot sighs, "I am not going to silence her, for God's sake! She's just a child! However, this kind of broke the camel's back, as it were. Other events across the country have made Kennedy feel it's time to....break the news about magic returning. It won't hold forever, you know. He just wanted to have more time to prepare, but this just....advances the timetable a bit, according to the President."

It was almost as if the arrival of....old friends (i.e. Dr. Who and friends) had heralded this whirlwind of fantastic "national interest" items.

Point in fact, the Champions arrival had heralded the events that the alphabet agencies were presently keeping a lid on (if only barely for the moment). The President had, after much consideration, decided that things wouldn't hold....so maybe he could break the news to the people so that panic (if any) would be minimal.

Oh, it wasn't a sure thing, panic, but all these people were realistic enough to know that such a bizarre situation wouldn't be easy to handle for at least some!

Brill, after figuring most of that out (all but looks at Abbot for a moment, going over what Abbot just said, and then nods. He'd been wondering about something like that.

That and he was rather glad that nobody was going to "silence" his niece, to put it mildly. He frankly wouldn't stand for it, but then again it would be rather....er....difficult to get away safely with her if it had come down to that....

"What exactly do we have?" Abbot finally asks Brill, still walking together, directly after entering the most secure area (i.e. most bug swept) in this complex.

"Thought that at first she was one of those special Barbie dolls that the President had given my niece," Brill says, chagrined , "Turns out that he had, but my niece had actually stumbled across a REAL fairy lass....and a pregnant one to boot!"

He looks back at Abbot, who'd stopped a few steps behind him.

The last part of that sentence only halfway registered with Abbot, who now had the oddest look on his face.

"I thought that Inquirer was just talking about some kind of code word...." he says softly to himself, looking up at the ceiling as if to ask God just why such things happen to him.

He makes a call and some Champions soon find themselves approached....

Moments later, Brill's cousin (Mary) is being escorted back to see her...odd friend....who appears to have company! They all seem to be having a quiet....but friendly enough chat....

She'd been bored waiting in that one room. While it had been nice to finally get an idea what her uncle does, it seems that this place didn't have children in mind as far as entertainment!

"Why do those kids have fox ears and tails?" she asks the one called Bishop.

"I....don't know...." the man who looked vaguely like Robert Redford sputters.

First he had been jarred to see Inquirer and the Doctor again (who he'd been rather ticked off at after that video they'd given Abbot had gotten him in trouble, re:14565) , but the others had then gotten his full attention.....

The fact that one (who had an odd gold necklace on that rather clashes with her old style Star Fleet uniform) looks like Lt. Uhura was barely noted. That and Chekov would have garnered more attention on any other day, but....

The fact that another female pixie was hugging a necklace like that one "Uhura" was wearing was probably the....

What a day! He'd have a lot to talk with his wife after this was all done.

In a secure room, naturally. He'd been in the Agency too long to be lax....

Later, though, he'd wonder just why some of the "mages" were looking rather grimly at each other when the pixie wasn't looking at them.....

After softly talking with her mirror image at first (the one known as "Fred", a fellow "pixie"), she'd been able to calm herself enough to first talk with those who'd she knew were hunting for her....and finally got to trust them enough (the one known as Synizn in particular) to help with her memory problem.

After making doubly sure that the anti-possession medallions are in place (keeping certain people in the right bodies like in episode 20339), of course. Such musical chairs would have ruined their efforts, otherwise....

Moments later and a few spells.....

  1. "I remember!" she almost screams, looking out at the others.
