The Quest for Uhura (Part II)

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 20077

Medical Officer's Personal Log (cont)

Anyway, back to those results....and they are rather good!

Now instead of "a snowball's chance in Hell" of finding "our" Uhura, we can upgrade our chances to on par with finding "a needle in a haystack".

Still long odds, but the Captain and I have faced and escaped worse odds here on the Enterprise. Something tells me that our new friends have done that as well.

The plan now is for the Enterprise (now in orbit around planet Livingston IV) to scan that world for landmarks that the mages saw through memories they had plundered from the alien entity. Hopefully, we can then beam down some kind of landing party (properly protected from any other alien entities still about on the planet) and see if the magical "gate" that this "Oracle" (seems that Jarlath's hunch paid off) used to teleport them to Livingston IV. Once located, the mages will see if the thing can somehow be opened back into that cavern that the Oracle lairs (and caught the Fred turned "Uhura").

If they can do that, they and the others will lead an assault into the very heart of the Oracle's lair. See, according to Synizn, the Oracle's gate (a more permanent affair, for some reason, than what was used to pop the "new" Uhura into the Enterprise) had teleported the alien entities from there to Livingston IV (soon after having plucked the hapless entities off another Earth in some other...universe).

God, I feel utterly silly saying all that, despite everything that has happened.... It's almost too fantastic to believe. Then again, you are talking to a person who, along with Jim and some others, got teleported via a teleporter mishap to an evil mirror universe, into our evil twin's cloths no less!!

....

Heh. Just remembered that one joke that I overheard Astra whisper to "their" Uhura. Some joke about Scotty having beamed down the Captain, and him agrily calling back up to the Enterprise and demanding that Scotty beam down his clothing! Then, in a fairly decent imitation of Montgomery Scott, she finished off by saying: "But Captain, I dinna think you'd need them!"

Ah....pardon the laugh...

There is more than a bit of truth to the last part, I fear, in regards to the Captain and...how he relates to the fairer sex.

So, we are now scanning the planet below for traces of a magical substance that shares a name with a bluff that the Captain used awhile ago.

Earlier...

We come upon a man who, after having frozen by spell a rather surprised Enterprise Communication's Officer, is glaring at an insolent "Lady Fred" who refuses to get her newly shapely rear off a cushion.

The rate of time here, in the heart of the Oracle's lair, can be altered to speed up or slow down at a whim.

Such is possible in this pocket universe that this mage has made to resemble a cavern...

Such a refusal must be dealt with in a strong...but artful manner. Artful because the Oracle is feeling a bit puckish today.

A slow smile spreads across his young seeming face as he thinks of a perfect way to deal a blow to the rather large male ego that this Fred has.

Oh, "Fred" torture has grown to be a rather enjoyable sport, the Oracle found. That particular analog with the name D'Honair (and a particular Thessamer analog) had...as Fate (if there was such a thing) would have it....kept on stumbling and interfering with his and his friends business a few hundred years ago. Started with his one friend, RF, awhile ago (re: 14682). It had paid a handsome dividend (and would soon pay an even better one..if all went well), but....analogs of that D'Honaire and that Thessamer kept on popping up ever since! Every once in a while it was...fun and refreshing to pay them back in kind (even if it was just a stray victim if nothing else).

Queer business, that...

That last word (or a play on it) sparks this latest "punishment".

"Still, must play the game out else it is not fun, i the Oracle mutters to himself before phasing the room back into the time flow of "Lady Fred".

Back in phase, he projects his voice into her chamber where she sat on her pillow.

(Note: part of this upcoming text is from episode 7027 by JH).

"It's no use your just sitting and sulking, Lady Fred," said the voice. "When I said you had a choice, that did not include the choice of doing nothing. That would be much too boring for me. Your choice is between opening the wardrobe and selecting clothes for yourself, or accepting my own idea of what would be fitting items to replace the armour that you still wear on your top half. For I can attire your top half for you as easily as I attired your lower half."

"Lady" Fred obstinately continued to sit on the pillows.

Smiling something that could, if one was charitable, be termed a smile, the mage slows time to a crawl again in relation to the scene before him and thinks to himself.

Frankly, he'd been itching to use that one new female fairy template....but he rather would have liked to save it for another time. Maybe if he had a model to...design the new body that "Lady" Fred was to receive.

He glances over at Uhura...and then smiles. It would even be a bit of a challenge. Oh, manipulating a body, even when it is with child, was easy enough. However, the fey folk were not what one would call the most prodigious of races. It would be a challenge indeed to transform the still as yet unborn child within this ebony skinned woman into a child of the fey (and leave him still within the subject as she herself was transformed). However, if nothing else...it would be good practice.

Moments later, a shivering pixie woman (only three inches tall) stares up at the towering figure before her, and then gasps down at her stomach...as if hearing somebody speaking to her...

Staring down, the Oracle saw that the formerly dark, beautiful skinned woman was now changed. Oh she was still beautiful, but she the very shapely image of a beautiful woman of a different sort. Her skin was a light shade of blue, and her multi-colored hair, cut short to just below the neck, seemed to shimmer. The Oracle could also see delicately pointed ears peeking just above her hair. She wore a gossamer dress which seemed to show everything, but in reality hid everything from sight. A pair of silken wings protruded from her back, and she clutched a silvery wand with a bright aquamarine stone on the end.

"Will use this one template for now," the Oracle mutters, making a gesture that would store the "specs" of the transformation onto a scroll, for ease of recasting later, "And then use that other fairy template another time. Sometime between now and that one job I hired myself out for so that one poor twit can inherit what he sees should be the share of "his" D'Honaire's fortune instead of "his" Fred or that other cousin of his...

Muttering to himself, he checks his notes, and sees that he also has that one Astra and Fred (who he hopes will entertain him when he transforms them into High Elves). He had already transformed that Astra into a male warrior. He rather hoped that Fred would choose that skimpy Amazon outfit. Would look rather nice on her on stage as she and Astra sputter before that audience they'd be warped before. (re: 8225). He'd magically have the scrolling device make a recording of it for later viewing and laughs.

Hmm, he would also make sure to "record" that one job where he would be hired to "bimbo-ize" that Fred and such. Would be...stimulating for those long nights off. However, what gets recorded in the end is rather..gruesome (even if it was deserved). It basically is the last moments of the Oracle, you see, that get recorded (re: 15812).

But that's for later, you see. Right now the Oracle looks at an odd map, noting a reality which recently became rather interesting (i.e. suddenly became magical), and decides to use it and the now small pixie to test a theory he has about the fey folk. If he's correct and it happens swiftly enough, he can visit later and see if the fey really do lose their sanity if not aligned with the Seelie or Unseelie Court. Wasn't like either side would be able to accept her, you understand. She had a Faith that was....not compatible with them... Maybe he'd even see how the mortals cope with a plague of mad pixie (for the pixie would multiply, even without a partner, as an instinctive act to preserve the species in a hostile environment).

As far as he knows, there are no other kinds of Champions for those Offices back in the Dark Tower.

Sending the still frozen fairy away (after giving her amnesia to make it all the more...interesting), he turns back to the defiant Lady Fred and synches the lair (which was a hyper-spatinal room which can be...nevermind...) back up with the prisoner's chamber.

(Note: taken in part from episode 7059 by Karen Ford).

"So be it" said the voice "Your new outfit will be the one on the floor in front of you" Looking down Lord Fred saw a tiny fairy costume complete with wings and wand. The thing was that it was for someone no more than six inches tall.

"Get real" Fred laughed "There's no way you'll fit me into that. It's smaller than my foot"

There was a big horrible laugh, and Lord Fred knew that there was something very wrong. The floor seemed incredibly close.

"Lady" Fred is now a fairy

Meanwhile, a confused and dazed pixie woman is parting the leaves around her and looking up at a rather large edifice...that's painted white.

Being that rates of time flow differently from universe to universe (unless special care is taken), it's not entirely unexpected...

"So, Brill," a Boston accented man's voice says pleasently from above, "How was Inquirer's and the Doctor's wedding? Hope they enjoyed the gift we had you give to them in my and Mr. Abbot's absence?"

"They enjoyed it very much, Mr. President." Brill says to Kennedy, who'd made a resurrection recently (in more ways than one after making that assassination attempt look successful).

Brill smiled, remembering the ceremony (as well as being rather happy to be back in the NSA, a job he loved even after being gone so long due to..necessity).

"Where am I?" the pixie woman says to herself, confused.

Flashback done, back to the Enterprise (NCC-1701).

  1. "Sir, I have located something on the scanners!" Sulu says, peering down at his instruments.
