Jail Break from the Brig....

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 19720

Well, let's see what our opponents next move is as we go onto our next task. Hope that our trick worked....seems that it's causing a lot of panic from the sounds outside, anyway....

Annafrid

Noting the look on Spock's face, I turn my attention over to Andrea. A quick scan outside with tricorder confirms that at least for the moment the passageway outside is clear.

.....

You know, I think I'm beginning to actually like this science stuff. That "tricorder" sure makes one's life easier. Do not like the idea of having to try to somehow open the door and just chance it.....or do something else like crawl through yet more tubes and ducts to see if the coast is clear!

Uhura

I turn back, having thoroughly tied up inter-ship communication lines for a good two hours at least (unless, of course, you know exactly what I did) with my handiwork to see a look on Spock's face that I hadn't expected. For the life of me I never remember....er.....I have no memories of "Uhura" (the prior owner of this form) having ever seen Spock so surprised!

Coughing a little, I turn away and pretend I actually have seen any kind of sign of emotions on Mr. Spock's face. Vulcan's pride themselves about logic and being emotionless (or more like having their emotions under complete control). While I might not be exactly the person he might think I am (though I have a feeling he's got an inkling something is different about me), I rather do not wish to embarrass the proud Vulcan science officer. Teasing him about such a slip might be "Bone's" racket, but it's not my style....neither before my transformation....and not now......

Astra D'Honaire, meanwhile, explains to Spock (after he quickly composes himself) that her PDA is based upon Federation technology that's something like a century ahead of Star Fleet's current "state of the art". That and....the people who taught her the ways of the computers, this Military....are very good in the art of computer system protection an/or computer system intrusion. Simply put, Astra 9 has learned her computer skills from instructors from the Military. While probably not as skilled at "hacking" as a Military specialist, the sad fact is that she's going to easily be able to hack into the Enterprise's computer system. She's the one who's making the computer system give off false alarms of a warp core breach. Though skilled himself, Spock is, I fear, hiding a bad shock as he witnesses how easily Astra is able to bypass security systems..... Now, I know he'll deny it being a blow to his ego....but I remember that Spock does play a large part in the Enterprise's computer security....in one way and one time or another.

I remember Char....er....Jarlath telling me something about this "Military". Something about the Miltary has within it some of the best human code crackers bar none....that has been honed by years and years of combat. Breaking codes and cracking alien (i.e. Enemy) computer systems is something that tends to make those types very good. Star Trek, being relatively peaceful....has never faced anything like what the Military (and the now defunct Enemy) can do with things like ship computers, sensors, etc.....

That said, some of those skill got passed on through instructors to Astra....

Now, while I can see how such a forced "evolution" could happen through conflict...I can't help but shudder myself at how.....

Uhura, pay attention to the task at hand.

Somewhere in the future I have plans on raising my unborn son....as a mother.... Ah yes, I see you understand. While I might have wished to return to my old body....it's gone now. Must talk with my sister, Joan, about that...but I am sure it has something to do with that unexpecte "meeting" with my child within me....

'Tis done, whatever the case. Oh, I shall see about what I can do about seeing if we can somehow track down the "real" Uhura.....That and finishing up my quest. However, I have grave doubts about success, though.

I remember, through the "oringal" Uhura's memories, about her Star Fleet Academy's classes about parallel worlds. Without some kind of marker....if indeed I have been teleported to another universe.....

Ah, but first let us perform a jail break..... No plans for the future will come about unless I and the others do one thing....and that is get the Enterprise back into the rightful hands!

Moments later, after much "hide and seek" with those who hadn't managed a way into an escape pod before their controller panic was mastered, my group makes it to the brig.

I gesture to a a still much bruised Parvel Checkov is helping the other more seriously injured

  1. "This is a 'jail break' I believe they'd call it," I say simply, "Are you in?"
