"Who is this queen, anyway?" asked Sir Toby. "I don't know of any queen
who weilds this sort of magic power. By the way, what's your name?"
"I am Maria. I used to be a lady-in-waiting at the King's court. And this Queen is the Queen of the Avarran." The Avarran! How was this possible? Sir Toby had heard of the Avarran, everyone in Allaria had. They were a dreaded tribe of barbarians with a great innate talent for magic who once dwelled in lands south of the Arabi. Their invasion was what finally killed the dying empire of Tetrilonia, and they ruled Tetrilonia City and most of Hespan, the Three Kingdoms, and northern Allaria with an iron fist until finally being driven out by the HighKing Corin. They had now been driven back beyond the Carpathias and their mages were wiped out to a man. Yet legends said that some survived underground and were plotting to regain their rule and take revenge on Allaria. Sir Toby simply believed such legends to be nothing more than paranoid rumors, but now it seemed that there was more truth to them than he believed.
