The Never Ending Quest - Episode 19685

Fred opened the book. He could not understand anything he saw; whatever language it was written in did not resemble Common or Allarian, or any other language Fred was dimly aware of. In fact, the script in which the book was written did not resemble any of the runes used throughout the northlands. Melissa came over and hrummphphed.

"Do you know this?" asked Fred.

"A little," she answered. "It's Spanish."

The word was meaningless to Fred. But it did sound similar to something Fred did understand. An idea struck the man. "This... spanish, is it spoken in the east where the fishermen and seamen abound?"

Melissa gave him a funny look. "If by the east you mean the east coast, sure. There's a large community of Puerto Ricans. I don't think they're much involved in the fishing industry these days though."

Fred's idea fizzled in his head, the words which the woman spoke were less clear than a three-foot smidge laying her eggs in a mud swill during the late summer monsoon.
