The Never Ending Quest - Episode 19302

Fred was a man of honor but he needed to reach the Dead Sea and then the
lands of the dead Empire as quickly as possible. Fred had indeed heard of
the House Cavaliero, it was one of the thirteen vassal Houses within the
lands of Trescent. But as to any man named Tanis, Fred was dumbfounded.
He was even more amazed by the reaction of this stranger to his own
person. What had the Frederigo of this timeband done to the man?
But such questions were secondary to finding a way of diverting this
inopportune squabble.
"Our argument can be settled another day!" said Fred to Tanis. "I decline your request for a duel." There was a flabberghasted silence on the part of Tanis. "You WHAT?" he screamed. "I decline," answered Fred. "You can't DECLINE!!!" "Why not?" "Because... because... just because!" yelled out Tanis. A crowd had now gathered; Jarvis was enjoying the show while Thesamar kept an eye on the development, Astra had found the tailor and was making arrangements for new clothing. "Listen, Freddy-boy!" Tanis said this as if it would insult Fred, but this Fred didn't find the name insulting at all. When Tanis saw that the monicker didn't have its desired effect, he contiuned. "Listen here! If I say, 'I challenge you to a duel,' I'm not ASKING you! I'm TELLING you!" "But if," answered Fred, now rather perturbed by the man, the crowd, and the bright tangerine undergarment riding up his bottocks, "...you challenge me, I have a right to say no." "No you don't!" "Sure I do." "No you don't!" "Of course I do." "No you don't!" "No I don't." "Yes you do!" "No I don't." "Yes you DO!" "Oh, O.K., you got me there, I guess I do have the right to just say no." "That's right you low-down varmit! You good for nothing rodent-eating, whore-mongering, addleeape rat bastard! You get outta my sight until the next time I..." The light then turned on within the Allarian's mind, by this time Fred had led his horse towards Thesamar and the tailor. "Hey! Come back here! You can't just walk off! I've been waiting too long for this!" Fred rolled his eyes. "Listen," he said, loud enough for all to hear. "Didn't you just say that I could say 'no'?" Fred looked at the half-formed crowd. "Didn't he folks?" They all nodded their heads vigorously. "Yup, yep, yes sir!" came back many an answer. Tanis Cavaliero just stood there dumbfounded. "But I wanna fight!" "Not today," said Fred. "Maybe tomorrow." And with that Fred and company haggled for some new clothing while the confused Tanis sat down under the shade of a mumbleberry tree. A small child came up to him and poked his right leg with a stick, "I'll fight ya, mister!" said the child. "Aw, shut up!" said Tanis.
