Luxor, even the air that one breathed within this mystic land seemed to
hold an ethereal quality. As the pleasant breeze blew through the wide
green and brown hills of the sparsely populated kingdom, the grass would
sway to and fro as if the land was underneath the sea. Fred took in a deep breath as they went along the road. It was a relief after the horrible, dry and dusty air of the Calamari. Fred felt he probably would have lost use of his vocal cords altogether if he had stayed any longer in that barren waste. He had entered Stormgarde with the raspy voice of an old man. He hoped, along with the others, that they would reach another town or village soon so they could be rid of this ridiculous attire. They were lucky, for not more than an hour away the small village of Fairwater-by-the-Wood lay nestled in the warm hills. They were not more than twenty minutes away from the Nunnery when they came to a sign. Astra and Thesamar could not make out what it said and demanded that Fred translate. "The sign plainly states..." Fred told them, "...that there is a village not more than five stone throws away.""Stone throw!?" Astra and Thesamar asked in unison, slightly annoying both of them. Jarvis cackled. "Welcome to Luxor! Queer folk abode here! Even their measurements and weights are queer. I do not come here too often, there is a strange presence in the air! There's not much to trap here, anyway. Just about every animal here is considered sacred and illegal to hunt or tame!" After a half hour or so the modest village came into view. It was just another average Luxorian settlement. Simple wood and stone buildings with thatched roofs, dominated by a mage tower or two in the center of the community. This one only had one, and it was fairly small."About time..." Astra muttered In any other land they might have stood out, but not in Luxor, especially so close to the Nunnery. The village was full of an assortment of folk. Farmers, monks, scribes, smiths, moss-peddlers, shrubbers, mystic llama-herders...the list could go on and on. It was a small place, and not too wealthy (at all), but the people lived good lives. Now they needed to find a tailor. But what's this? A man (Allarian, by the looks of his armor) had just spotted Fred and was walking towards him at a fast pace! Fred didn't even notice the man until he was right behind him (Astra and Thesamar had seen him coming, but thought it might be amusing to see what happens next, without warning Fred). "Do my eyes deceive me!!" The man exclaimed in a heavy Allarian accent. "Frederigo!? YOU OLD DOG! YOU RAT BASTARD! IT IS YOU!"Fred gave raised an eyebrow at the man. "I'm afraid I have no idea who you are or what your quarrel is with me, fellow Kingsman." "Fellow w-w-what!" The man removed a white glove that he was wearing. "Fellow Kingsman what!? You-you addlepated knave! You son of a whore! Don't give me that rubbish! It is I, Tanis Cavaliero! You son of a buck! And what kind of attire is that? Gone off and joined a cult?" "Please, sir! There are ladies!" Fred was taken back. "I have never met you in my life, although I know of your esteemed House..."Tanis took his glove and slapped it hard against Fred's face SMACK!"The sisters" began to laugh and part of the crowd stopped its' bustling to stop and watch the exchange of words. Jarvis smirked . "Silence! Enough of this! We are both men of honor, D'Honaire, I challenge you to a duel! This has been a long time coming! Weren't you supposed to be off slaying the Southern Dragon! You lucky twit! I remember the festivities in Caemlyn before they sent you off! Almost as if the damn reptile was already slain! DUEL ME FREDERIGO!"Fred was a man of honor, but he needed to reach the Dead Sea as quickly as possible.
