One Last Answer to One Last Question

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 19098

As the small elf excuses himself, Morgana (dead tired) explains what her husband means.

Morgana

It's been a relatively pleasant holiday here, despite the recent emergencies. See, while the situations had happened and had been dangerous, at least they had happy endings! Hope that this last one will also have a happy ending, but beyond this one last answer, I'm done.

This will, by needs, be the last answer to this last question. Inquirer, ever living up to her name, wanted to talk with a real live AD&D High Elf (along with those two Draconians, Slith and Kang). Was a pleasant chat with her and them. Told them about myself and my husband, and the place called Rift Earth (see episodes 7593, 7829, 7830, 7837, 7838, 7839 for Rifts Earth; episodes 7840, and 7841 for Morgana; and). As for my husband.....

Rugen is a fellow adventurer like myself, but was born on an Earth during the 20th century. Elves still existed there, but were hidden from all but the mosted trusted of human beings. Despite the elves of his world being man sized, he is a midget (not that it gets him down). Still went out and adventures, per tradition. He got caught up, somehow, in time travel...and made a fortune using that technology in garnering a fortune that now somewhat rivals the superpowers of several Earths. Indeed, much of his money went into the effort in putting down the Coalition States. Wonderful man, my love, but can be opinionated at times. Has a few odd quirks to him as well. Loves to collect pocket calculators and LOVES to read fantasy and sci-fi books (big library). Fell for him and married him, despite him being of a different species of elf than myself. Love is love, and he was willing to go into being a Champion when the Rules and Agents "upgraded" me to the new style of Champion. Anyway, he was really happy to be able to meet Kang and Slith in addition to being invited to Inquirer's wedding...

Things have heated back on Rift Earth up and as soon as I get a hitch back in time I and Rugen are going to have to assume the mantel of leadership. A suicide bomber took out the old leaders, I fear.... Damn Coallition scum....

That is, after I and Rugen recuperate from all these wishes that have been cast in recent days. Funny, I know they say one usually needs a vacation after having a vacation, but....come ON.

Then again, sometimes stress can get a fellow down! Lord knows that Rule 179 and his Chaos counterpart get stressed out enough about what we must deal with on Rifts Earth. At least I and Rugen help by lending a sympathetic ear from time to time. Even Celestrials need that, I fear.

As what happened with me when I made a pre-generated wish scroll for Jarlath's group (who are going out and about in the multi-verse....helping their analog brothers and sisters who'd been kidnapped by a Book into a Red Pyramid here on Nantucket Earth). The ways of magic in this reality (as well as Rifts Earth) are somewhat different than that of my old world (the phenomenon I call "the Drift" effect), but still compatible enough for the Wish spell and such old magic to work. I, by luck of being a High Elf, can cast it with no more adverse effect than what you may have heard of. However, my husband isn't a High Elf (or any of the AD&D brand of elf). He's from a reality more like GURPs (a role playing system to the uninformed), and the toll he'll pay is much higher by far.

Basically, with him making another pre-generated wish scroll, it allows Inquirer's group an easier time. Won't have to lug around Omega (who'll be knocked for a loop by the spell) as well as Rugen. I (when I wake up in a few days) and some friends will look over my husband here in Nantucket as he...er...sleeps off his coma. Instead, the Doctor and gane will just read the scroll near Omega, and....

"....that'll have to do," I sigh as I finish explaining, "May you succeed."

Weak last lines, I know, but best I can manage. Too tired for anything more lively, I fear.

And so the newlyweds and their friends were, after wishing luck to Jarlath's group (who are off to help some demifox kin) on their latest quest, off to save Omega and the Doctor's Earth before Omega somehow reverted to antimatter.

On Earth, Doctor Who's universe, in the city of Amsterdam

  1. "And here we are," the Doctor says finally.
