Fred the Raconteur

"He certainly does. And he's a great story-teller. I liked the bit where he outwitted the smugglers." [852]

"Yeah. I think he got rather carried away after that, though. I mean, that bit where he was supposedly killed and then comes back from the dead and wreaks vengeance [3804, 5113] was a bit OTT even for fantasy role-playing."

"Not to mention being given a flaming axe together with superhuman strength and speed."

"He did say that he'd lost the axe somewhere along the way, though," the boy chuckled.

"Yeah, right. I think he must have had a very indulgent GM to let him get away with some of that stuff."

A few minutes later Fred came to the end of his story: "... and so I found myself here."

1. There was a smattering of applause.
2. Some joker shouted out: "If you've got supernatural strength and speed, then prove it." This rather disconcerted Fred, who seemed to have lost these attributes somewhere along the way.
3. To Betty's alarm, Madame Zelberta entered the hall just then. (For all her bulk, she could move surprisingly fast when it suited her, and Socorro isn't that big a town.)
