Caught in the Magical Fall-out

But at that moment there was an enormous explosion of aquamarine light. It engulfed the castle, Andrea and her horse, and indeed everything for several miles around. The two magic users would have been at "ground zero" of the magical blast. They must either have been killed, or so radically changed that they would no longer be functional as wizards.

When the light faded after a few seconds, it still took another thirty seconds before Andrea could see normally again. And then she could not believe what she saw. Perhaps it was an illusion, some after-effect of the intense light playing tricks with her eyes. She closed her eyes, counted to ten, and then opened them again, but what she saw was the same:

1. Everything was pink. The castle was pink. The ground was pink. Her horse was pink. Her clothes were pink. She was pink. Even the sky was heavily tinged with pink.
2. She was seeing things from the viewpoint of her horse. Her mind was in its body, and its mind was in hers. She was afraid that the limited intelligence of the horse might damage her body before she could get it back.
3. There was no sign of the castle. Indeed, she could not recognise her surroundings at all.
4. She had been shrunk to about six inches high, and her clothes had been shrunk to match. But her horse was still full size, and she was perched precariously on its back.
5. Her legs and backside had been fused into the body of the horse. They were still two beings, but were now literally inseparable.
6. She and all her surroundings were glowing faintly with an aquamarine light. Everything had obviously been charged with magical energy, which might discharge at any time with unpredictable results.
