The Never Ending Quest - Episode 18725

Indeed, how did any of these various persons get to where they are now? Let's take a look:

Fred The son of a great duke of the kingdom, he was chosen by his LiegeKing Emry Exultaine to go off and kill the Dragon of the Southern Caves. Once there he discovered a hound that was once an Allarian boy named Velus, and a warrior woman called Astra. Together, and with the help of a gnome, they found the sleeping Dragon. Once Astra killed the Dragon Fred took the dragon's eyes as proof of its death.

While searching for a way out of the Dragon's den they discovered a man chained to the wall. Incredibly the man said that he was Prince Cedrik! Fred reeled, for it had been told years ago that Prince Cedrik had choked to death on the eve of his coronation. Two and two came together and the group began to realize that not all smelled well in Allaria. Before leaving the den the group found some items of interest and Fred took with him a magical sword.

Once leaving the Caves, Prince Cedrik asked for his aid in confronting his brother, now King, Emry. Fred agreed. The troup then headed down through the foothills of the Shreken until they arrived in the mining village of Mudspot. Fred was hailed Dragon-Slayer (even as he tried to explain that it was Astra who did the deed). Fred paid for four single rooms in the Boar's Head and there was much drinking that night. When Fred awoke the next day he had a strange experience: he saw, or thought he saw, a huge monkey enter his room, a monkey that turned into a woodsman. Later he went to the rooms of his friends only to discover that they were gone!

When asking about, Fred discovered that the innkeeper of the Boar's Head was shaken when he spoke about monkeys. Not only that, when Fred went back to inspect the rooms he bumped into a little girl who simply said: "sing." Almost immediately he began to uncontrollably sing about his predicament! A few other people nearby were also ensorcled by the musical moment and joined in.

Later Fred went in search of a ranger and he bought the services of Old Alfredo. They returned to the Boar's Head and while Alfredo was inspecting the rooms, Fred was approached by a mystrious stranger. The stranger mentioned Fred's song and the line 'long lost brother king' and Fred got nervous. He did not want anyone to know of the Prince's existance, not yet anyway. Fred left but was later compelled by magic to find the stranger again. The stranger tried to coerce information from Fred, but Fred resisted to the point of falling unconscious. When he awoke he found himself with the innkeeper and Alfredo.

Their plan was to go to Old Alfredo's home with the mail and helms and think over a strategy, but before they reached it they were confronted by ten Allarian soldiers. Fred was told that he must surrender himself to the King, and being honorable, he did. Along the way, however, Fred and Alfredo discovered that the knights were not taking them to the King's City but rather towards the Duchy of Trescent, home of Duke Zular.

Velus Once, when members of the Royal Family of Aquilaria (including Astra) were visiting the court of Allaria, one of Astra's cousins fell into a well. Velus, a young shephard-in-training witnessed the fall and rescued the royal girl. Shortly thereafter Velus was kidnapped by the Dragon. Still later, he was transformed into a hound. Once Astra killed the Dragon, though, its magic was undone and Velus found himself human again.

Before leaving the den he clothed himself in some silver ceremonial ring mail, and a golden helm. He also took with him a magical sword. Once outside the Caves, Prince Cedrik asked for his aid in confronting King Emry, Velus agreed. The troup then found themselves in the mining village of Mudspot. Fred was hailed Dragon-Slayer and the whole town seemed to revel in drink and dance.

What next happened to Velus is not known, but that morning Velus was not in his room, yet his chainmail and helm were. We do know, however, that it was Velus, dressed all in black, and with an armed force of some twenty men, who saved Fred and Alfredo from the clutches of (presumably) Duke Zular's men.

Old Alfredo He is an old man living in a hut outside of Mudspot. He was surprised one day by having nearly every child from between the ages of five and thirteen cramp into his home. Behind them was Fred, and Fred had a business propostion. Old Alfredo heard the facts of the case and accepted it. Note: Fred did not disclose the true identities of Cedrik or Astra due to the nature of Prince Cedrik's mission. He soon found himself, however, a prisoner with his employer.

Astra Princess Astra of Aqualaria, the southern neighbor of Allaria. She is one of the fabled warrior princesses; a tall, athletic, full-breasted woman and no shrinking violet! She sought to defeat the Dragon of the Northern Caves but was captured by the beast instead. Not only that, she was tortured and murdered! Once in the ShadowRealm (the afterlife) she was propositioned and accepted a new existance on earth as a so-called Destroyer of Oaths. She was returned to the mortal realm but in an as yet unknown series of events was again captured by the Dragon! Though she has abilities beyond the mortal ken, unnatural powers of demonic origin, the Dragon trapped her with magical chains and, as she said, "with his magic powers he toyed with me."

Astra used the fact that she outranked Fred to get his sword from him. She also elevated Velus to Sir Velus. Even though Fred spoke his desire to slay the Dragon, she did not allow him. Instead, she sliced the beast's head clean off: she had gained her revenge upon the creature that had killed her!

Before leaving she clothed herself in some silver ceremonial ring mail, and a golden helm. Once outside, Prince Cedrik asked for her aid in confronting his brother, Astra agreed.

The troup headed down through the Shreken and arrived in a mining village. Fred was hailed Dragon-Slayer and there was much festivity that night. Even as the others revelled, she made her plan to destroy the Exultaine Family. She knew that Prince Cedrik was central in this plan and so she decided to keep Fred occupied, divert Velus, and keep Cedrik under the impression they were being hunted. As part of this she spiked Fred's water with hallucinogenic weed. She is currently with Cedrik somewhere outside of Allaria.

Cedrik The eldest son of the Family Exultaine, he mysteriously disappeared the day before his coronation and was said to have choked on a chicken bone, though nobody ever saw the body. He had spent years within the Caves of the Dragon; a prisoner degraded and abused. He was finally discovered by Astra, Fred, and Velus as they were searching for a way out of the now-dead Dragon's lair.

He was freed and, before leaving, he clothed himself in some silver ceremonial ring mail, and a golden helm. He also took with him a magical sword. Once having left the caves he decided to return to the King's City to face his brother King Emry. He asked Fred, Velus, and Astra for aid and they agreed. The troup headed down through the foothills of the Shreken until they arrived in a mining village. Fred was hailed Dragon- Slayer and a great festival spontaneously blossomed. Cedrik made careful not to mention who he was, as did his other companions.

Sometime in the middle of the night, however, he was awakened by Astra who told him their lives were in danger. Rushing as he did, and in such confusion, he grabbed only a borrowed cloak and his magic sword, but left the chainmail under his bed. He is currently with Astra, and afraid for his life (because of the lies fed to him by her).

Zular Is this man the one who was behind Prince Cedrik's initial disappearance? Is he in league with the Dragon? Did he instruct a group of loyal knights to arrest Fred and bring him to Trescent? What exactly is going on?

King Emry Is this the man in league with the Dragon and responsible for his older brother's initial disappearance? The one thing we do know is that after his brother's "death" he became king. And who exactly made up the story about the chicken bone?

He was the one who sent Fred on a quest to kill the Dragon, was this only a ploy to have his people see that he was doing something against such a foul beast, or was he hoping Fred would unwittingly seal any evidnence of the King's prior misdealings? Only weeks ago the King received reports of activity from the south and of Fred; reports that did not make the most sense to him. He sent out a troup of Guardsmen with the mission to either aid Fred or bring him to the King's City.

the Gnome Living in the Caves, he has found ways to fool and scare away the less pleasant inhabitants. He found Astra, Fred, and Velus knocking at his door one day and gave them directions to the Dragon's lair. Even as they were leaving his home, he screamed terribly, shutting and locking his doors. Astra convinced Fred to not help him, but later they returned and found the gnome happily alive. The terrible noise was simply a cough.

the little girl She called to Fred while in the Boar's Head and with one word ("sing") she whimsically skipped out of his life, although leaving him in a musical mood.

She was approached by the Allarian mage Bert, she knew his name though he did not give it to her. She spoke of the ignorance of Allarian enchanters and of their keeping strict but ignorant laws. Then she simply disappeared! Who is this little girl? What is this little girl? Will we ever see her agian?

Bert (the mysterious stranger) An Allarian mage who uses magical gems. While Fred was with Old Alfredo inspecting the rooms of Fred's now-missing companions he approached Fred and referred to Fred's singing of the 'long lost brother king.' Fred quickly left the man alone which only made him angry. Bert went to his own room and did some kind of spell to bring Fred back to him. Bert does not know who Fred is exactly or who the other companions are, or what their business is: but he knows that this information is important. He tried to coerce the info from Fred but failed, and Fred fell to the floor instead.

He knew of the little girl who made Fred sing, and so sought her out. Upon finding her he discovered that she knew much more of him that he of she. The little girl cared nothing of Bert and made degrading comments, and in the end she simply vanished into thin air. Bert immediately mounted his horse and rode north with great speed and for all we know is riding still.

And so there they are, and here we are. So let us go back again to that moment in time where Old Alfredo is not sure if his life is safe or only in another kind of danger, and Fred is confused but jubilant!

  1. Fred cried out: "How in all gods' and demigods' name did you get here???"
