Apologising to an Ogre

"Seems more than likely," Astra replied. "I wonder why the tongue-less man should want to play a trick on us like that."

Velus emitted a series of barks that translated as: "Wouldn't running away be a very good idea?" But Fred and Astra took no notice, so he slunk behind them and hoped for the best.

They heard the sound of a bolt being thrown, and then the door creaked slowly open. Standing in the doorway was an ogre some nine feet tall. "WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY WAKING ME UP?" he demanded. "WHO ARE YOU, AND WHAT DO YOU WANT?"

"Sir, I am Lord Frederigo d'Honaire of Allaria, the lady is Princess Astra of Aqualaria, and the dog is Velus," Fred replied. "We should like to apologise for waking you. We were following someone and thought he might have gone through this door. Of course, we now realise that we were mistaken."

1. "YOU MUST DIE."
2. "That's quite all right, old chap," the ogre said much more quietly. "Won't the three of you come in, and I'll make us a nice pot of tea?"
