The man, who by the look of it was a trapper, saw the glint of moonlight
from off of the sword in Astra's hands; he froze in his tracks. Astra
looked him over: he was small but burly, he had a great big bush of black
beard on his face and a pack on his back, he had pelts of small furry
animals hanging from off his belt.
"We mean you no harm," said Fred. Astra remained quiet, as did the man. Fred was getting uncomfortable. Fred was used to the noise of his father's home, or the ruckus of a barracks, or even the loud whispers at the Royal Court. He was not used to silence. Astra was. So was the man. "Come on, guys..." said Fred. "Can't we just get along? Put down the sword, Astra. And you, tell us your name. We won't bite, promise." ~~speak for yourself, tin-boy!~~ barked Velus.
