The Result of Looking under Beds

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 18567

"So did you find any clues?" Fred asked Alfredo, once they were far enough away from the mysterious stranger not be overheard.

"I found one thing that I thought was very strange," Alfredo replied, "though whether or not it is a clue I am not sure. I looked under the bed in each room, as part of my search. In all three cases, I found that the silver ringmail and golden helm which you told me about had been left there. One wouldn't expect your friends to go to sleep in their armour, of course, but each room had a perfectly serviceable wardrobe. Why not leave their attire there rather than under the bed? If it was their abductors who put it there, then why? Even if theft was not their motive, why not leave the items where they were: in the wardrobe, or hanging over a chair? If your friends happened to be dressed when they were surprised, why get them to strip and then leave the armour under the bed? It makes no sense."

  1. Fred is equally baffled.
  2. Fred comes up with a theory.
  3. Fred's first act is to arrange to have the valuable armour taken somewhere where it can be stored safely.
