Madame Zelberta had no idea what force or entity it was that had brought
her here, but she felt certain that, whatever it was, it had surely brought
her here for a purpose. And, with luck, once she accomplished that
purpose, the whatever-it-was would see fit to return her home. That,
however, seemed unlikely to happen with her exorcism only
half-accomplished. Squaring her jaw in determination, she set off down the
street in pursuit of the second psychic tug and, hopefully, her ticket
home.
Betty stood inside the comic shop, unseen and unheard, chuckling to herself. She wasn't sure which she found funnier: Astra's (admittedly quite understandable) confusion about the meaning of sign, or the fact that the kid so obviously just wanted to be left alone to peruse his Xena comic, all unaware that there was, in fact, a real live warrior princess standing about two feet in front of him. Well, at least there were a few giggles to be found even after death, Betty thought, attempting to take some small consolation from this fact.
The boy continued to gape up at Astra, as if unsure of her sanity. For her part, Astra was rather unsure about his. Was the boy half-witted? Surely her question had been simple enough? "I need to find a wizard," she said, speaking very slowly and distinctly. "Or a witch, or any other sort of magic user. Do you know when they are gathering?" "Uh," said the kid, "if you're looking for a D&D session, I think they run on Thursdays." "What?" This place was growing more confusing by the minute. Astra was not pleased. She was debating whether to continue this unrewarding conversation or to seek elsewhere for her answers, when the door opened and a large, dark-skinned woman came in.
