Lovers' Tiff?

How did I - or Uhura - ever find him attractive? Fred wondered. And how the Hell did he know that there was a child to claim?

Kirk turned to Fred and whispered: "He called you his mate. You didn't go through any form of wedding ceremony with him, did you?"

Fred whispered back: "No, Captain! Er, that is, I don't think so. There are a few gaps in my memory. Their local brandy was pretty fierce."

Kirk scowled, then returned his attention to the viewscreen. "Lieutenant Uhura does not want to go with you, Stra'a. It is her decision to make, and I will not give her up to you."

"If you will not give her up willingly, then I regret that I shall have to take her by force."

"But if you initiate a battle, even if you win it you will not gain the Lieutenant, for the Enterprise will have been destroyed and she will be dead."

1. Stra'a grudgingly sees reason.
2. The Gamma Omegan ship's only answer is to open fire. The Enterprise's shields are reduced to 23% by the initial salvo!
3. Suddenly a party of Gamma Omegans materialises on the bridge of the Enterprise!
4. To avoid the likelihood of bloodshed, Fred decides that she must volunteer to give herself up.
