It was early in the evening, so the inn was fairly quiet, and only Sigourney was serving behind the bar. The soldier approached her. "What can I get you?" she asked him.

"I'm afraid I'm here on business," he replied. "The Prince wants to trace three identical sisters, and I have been sent to Hofargh to see if they have come here. Have they been seen in this inn, by any chance? I might add that there is a substantial reward on offer for any information that leads to their being found."

"Really?" Sigourney said, trying not to betray any emotion. "Why does he want to trace them?"

"That I don't know. All I know is that if I find them I am to bring them back to the palace, with help from the Hofargh constabulary if necessary."

  1. "Well, they haven't been seen in here."
  2. A drinker at the bar butted in: "She's one of them! Her two sisters work here too. Now, when do I get my reward?"
