The restored Lady Fred stood there shaking with shock. In retrospect, it
had been a horrible experience,
even though at the time she had had no memories of her "true" self.
"Are you convinced yet?" the dragon's voice asked her. "You can serve me in your current form, by your own free will. Or you can serve me as a dragon- woman, in which case you will effectively be my slave with no desire to do anything but please me. I have no preference, since for me the advantages and disadvantages are roughly in balance. If you are to be a dragon-woman, then I need have no niggling doubts about your loyalty. The drawback is that in that form you have a lowered intelligence and little initiative of your own. That would not matter for the rank and file of my forces, indeed would arguably be a good thing, but it would be a handicap for their Captain. So, which is it to be?"
