Averting the dread gaze

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 1758

"Blast!" yelled out the man in the green robes. "That diabolical beast cured the wench of the poison."

"So it seems m'Lord."

"Go to the Tower," he continued. "Tell Ibn and the other one to begin their art. The wench and her unholy offspring must be destroyed."

"As you command, m'Lord."

After the lower attendant had left, another voice spoke up: "And what of the nobleman?"

"Aaaah," began the man in green. "He shall be dessert."

The mountain mage had already begun the arcane rituals that would rectify the blood curse and hopefully mollify any pernicious spirits.

"So, you say that in addition of regaining my form," says Fred from the stool he sat upon. "You'll strengthen this.....Matrix thingy so that I can't be as easily altered as I was....last time?

Synizn nodded vaguely as he continued to chant, simmering ungeants and burning arcane reagents. Then, for a moment, the bear-man's face seemed to be stricken. He made strange motions as if he was fighting some unseen foe. For a time, it did not seem like he was winning this invisible battle either...

Then, with a mighty sweeping motion, the bear-man seemed to throw off his attacker, and resumed the ritual.

Lord Frederigo D'Honaire felt eldritch energy surge through him, and suddenly found himself naked on the stool. Totally human!

"Well," says the mage as he hands the knight a bathrobe. "You'll be as resistant as you were before that magical hack got to you."

Frederigo blinked as he heard some very human crying from the next room. He turned to the sheepishly grinning mage.

"Hey," Synizn grinned. "Can I help it if I can handle several things at once with this magical item?"

Frederigo and Astra stood amazed, renewed before the bear-man. Nonetheless, they did have seven babies to worry about. However, Synizn still had a worried look upon his face.

"It is still not safe...Someone did not wish to see this ritual completed. Someone will want these babies, for their birthright is great..." the bear-man mused.

Astra and Frederigo looked confused, but Synizn explained.

"There are only a select few sorcerors who could interrupt my magick like that. One of whom is in this city, although I suspect they will not be for long if 'twere they I struggled with. One lies in the Calamari desert, and one lives with the fey fair folk of the woods east of here. One of these three will attempt to kidnap your children. They will not succeed, mind you. I shall magickally spirit them away to noble families that will raise them as their own. You two, however, are less safe. You must find this sorceror. He will try again..."

  1. Frederigo and Astra search to prevent the mage of the tower from fleeing.
  2. Frederigo and Astra set out to find the Calamari desert once more.
  3. Frederigo and Astra venture into the Fey Woods.
