Hostile Soldiers of Unknown Allegiance....

"Who the hell are you, and what have you done with Lord Frederigo and Princess Astra?"

"As to who we are.....you and Velus have journeyed with us long enough to know!" Astra the satyr snaps, suddenly angered at having a sword drawn upon her and Fred.

"What are you talking about?" Cederick snaps back, equally annoyed.

Velus, meanwhile, blinks in shock as he actually looks at the faces of the satyres, But then a noise outside makes him turn and look outside the window. Pale of face and tongue tied, he begins to waving at Cederick to get his attention.

Cederick ignores him.

Angry still, he blinks as one member of a party that has come to help him (which he still as of yet is unaware of), come running into the room. He had heard of this kind, but never has he ever lain eyes upon the small, fox eared and tailed race called the demifox people.

This one's ears (a female of the species) quirks up in surprise as she looks at Cederick's sword.

"This isn't the kind of greeting we'd have hoped for," I mutter softly in consternation.

I then forge on a few seconds before my friends come in behind me (some in the room and some out in the hallway).

"Fred, Astra!" I say quickly, "Wrap up your business with Cederick and let us all get ready!"

I pause when I see Cederick (I assume that the man with the sword is Cederick....Velus, being a peasant, wouldn't have the training to use the thing properly as I can see here) seems to see the satyres for the first time.

"What in God's name?!" he gasps.

I suppress a sigh.

I've run into this type of problem before with some people. The only see the ears and tail, but not the face or person. The see a demifox but ignore the man or woman who wears that form.

Just off the cuff I don't believe that this Cederick fellow is that bad, but I believe that he only saw satyres....and not long lost friends.....

"We'll explain later," I hiss, "Right now I believe that the soldiers outside are going to finish off you and Fred if we don't do something ASAP!"

That and the rest of the town.....

Now, I may be wrong, but I'll believe those soldiers (who wear a similar style of livery as the allies of the Dragon of the Southern Caverns as on my world) are here for the Fred, Astra, and others of this world. Probably out for revenge for their leader's death.

Or perhaps even Emery's soldiers just out to silence any challenge to his rule using the dead dragon as a cover?

Whatever the case, questions (including the new one raised about Astra 9 when Velus and Cederick see her) are put aside as we rush out to "greet" them, while the peasants are gathered in wary groups behind us (farming tools for weapons at the ready).

The leader of the soldiers and the others pull up short when they see us....

1. "We do make a rather odd sight, eh?" I chuckle to myself, tail wagging a little in mirth.
