The Doctor recalls how things got this way... (Part 2)

That was odd enough, but not as odd as when I found out the special nature of that one young woman named Inquirer who...er...took care of the Master and took him into custody soon afterwards upon our arrival! Indeed, I am....er....was not one to believe in magic and such, but now?

I guess that one could very well say that even a Time Lord can learn a thing or two about the greater reality. Goodness knows there are things out there that are greater than what we on Galifrey know. The Guardians are a great example of such things! Terra Prime isn't quiet in that class, but still....

Anyway, after the Masters (the mechanical maiden had bagged this one and another one inside my analogous "brother's" TARDIS) were put into custody, their fate to be decided later by the powers that be, I and my new Companions were soon to depart ways. Melissa went one way and the Betties went another. I should know. I took them there.

They had been tempted in staying with me and exploring the universe like some of their analogous "sisters", but in the end the thoughts of seeing how their Earth (which through a strange series of events) ended up many light years away from Terra Prime itself would change with contact with the Military. Things would change on their Earth, if only for the fact that their translocation would be clear as the new Sun in their sky (a blue giant)! I took them in my TARDIS to drop them off (with the plan me of just dropping them off so I could get back to working on that faulty Chameleon circuit) when we ran into yet another Betty and Stacy (and two FBI agents who's life story mirrored some American TV show called The X-files).

It seems that these newcomers had also been abducted by Author Scott in his mad revenge plots and plunked down on "my" Betty's Earth, none the wiser. This other Stacy had the same story about happenings out at the VLA as "my" Stacy and had enlisted the aid of the other Betty. They would have soon been on their way out to that very site if not for a visit by Special Agents Mulder and Scully. As I understand it, these two FBI agents had been investigating a false X-file planted by Scott, whisked away to this Earth while en route to Socorro (quiet unknown to them until a bit later after the fact). There, they tracked down the other Stacy and .... Well, they started to do the "investigation thing" as it were with her (quiet annoying, but it's part of their job). Soon the other Betty came in on the scene and the rather odd business about TV shows and such. A question of credibility existed for awhile, but when they got a look at the new sun in the sky.....

Well, they were a bit shocked by it all but were dealing with it. Stacy was kind enough to supply money for room and board for the FBI agents after it came clear not only were the agents not able to prove that they weren't just actors pulling a publicity stunt....but the money and credit cards they had were useless (i.e. considered counterfeit).

After a little more insanity, I find myself making a promise to Mulder to see if I can enlist the aid of the one being who could get his long lost sister free of the one known as the "Smoking Man." See, the way back to his world was unknown to all but Author Scott....and the Rules and Agents. I had no hope at swaying Scott to give up this information, but the Celestrials..... I admit that it was a small chance that I'd ever meet them to offer my services to them as Champion in exchange for this boon and a bit more in this dark business about aliens invading Mulder's Earth, but I could offer some ray of hope for him. That and I told him about possible jobs for him and Scully in either the Military or that newly formed thing of Probe's back on Terra Prime (an agency he called UNIT).

I left the Betties back on Earth along with the others to return back to Terra Prime to up what I could for them. Then, not long after that I'd returned back to Terra Prime I got offered the chance of becoming a Champion. After going off to a parallel Terra to rescue another Fred from a terrible fate (and getting quiet involved in things there before it was all said and done), I returned to find Mulder's sister (youthened back to the age she'd been when she'd been abducted) waiting to be taken to Mulder. We loaded up and headed back to Earth and the reunion was very happy indeed!

Then, not long after a convoy of Military ships sent to aid the still shell shocked Earth (er....you see, the Military has something similar to the Star Trek Prime Directive, but regulations also demanded that all human inhabited worlds be aided ASAP if within a certain radius within a known logistical target.....something that was what Terra Prime was with it's Jeth....er....Tiberium).

I found out that this "other" Betty wasn't very happy with being something of a stranger in her own life (nothing but her truck was actually her's). Wanting a bit of company and the aid she could give in my future endeavors (she was a Doctor Who fan with lots of information), I offered her a chance at being a Companion.

She jumped at the chance....and now I and she find ourselves in the middle of events that mirror that one TV episode called Doctor Who and the Planet of the Spiders (or something like that). We've already neutralized the danger of the spiders on Earth back at the monastery AND the threat that the blue crystal represents (crushed it). Now.....

Now.....Betty seems to have taken the initiative and stepped up to speak to that approaching figure!

"Arak.....could we speak with you?" she greets the surprised man.

Arak, understandably, is both surprised and more than a bit suspicious of all of this. However, between I and Betty, we manage to sway this man (who amounted to a rebel leader of sorts) that we are indeed friends. That, and we had the means of overthrowing the spider overlords!!

Later, after a bit of...well....rock collecting as Betty so quaintly put it.....

1. "Wonder how that spider and the convoy will take this new fashion statement," Betty quips, pointing to the leather headband with a crowing piece of crystal within it that she, I, and the others now sport.
