Any slight regret that Betty might have had about the excitement provided
by Fred
and Astra going out of her life had been counteracted by Fred's
attack on her door hinges, She had rather thought that he would be more
housetrained than that, more respectful of other people's property. I
guess
I was unlucky with which analogue I got, she mused.
So Betty was happy enough to see Fred go. And she was even happier to see Astra follow him, Astra's parting shot being: "Even if Fred will not have me with him, I am not staying here with you, witch." Astra cut a slightly comical figure as she walked out. She was more than six inches taller than Betty. Thus the legs of the jeans she wore finished well above her ankles, and there was an inch of bare midriff between the waist of the jeans and the bottom of her tee-shirt. Her feet were bare, for none of Betty's shoes would fit her. Just as Astra was going out of the front door, there was a squeal of tyres from the street outside, and then the sound of a crash. Oh s**t! Betty thought. I should have thought to warn them about modern-day traffic. She ran outside, just behind Astra.
