"Oh, dear," said Betty the sorceress (or whatever she was). "You've lost
your towel? That leaves you severely underequipped for interdimensional
travelling, I'm afraid." Something about her words touched a chord deep within Fred. "Yes!" he said. "Yes... I feel... strangely bereft without my towel." Which was kind of odd, he suddenly realized, because he didn't actually remember having a towel before he entered that weird purple void. The woman sighed. "Oh, all right, I'll lend you a towel, if you'll just go away and promise not to come back." She disappeared from the room for a moment and quickly reappeared holding a threadbare green towel, which she handed to Lord Fred. Fred wisely refrained from pointing out that, if he promised never to see her again, he could hardly return the towel, and thus could not accurately be said to have borrowed it.
