The girl's name was Hannah, and she was, by all appearances, a perfectly normal fifteen-year-old wench, with no hint that there was a knight inside her head screaming. And scream he did. Fred screamed all through Hannah's romance with the woodsman (whose name was Henry). He screamed all through their marriage and through Hannah's first pregnancy. And if he had been able to vocalize when she had her first child... It would have been bloodcurdling. Hannah kept having kids, too. She didn't stop. She was mothering five children by her twentieth birthday, and eight by her twenty-fifth. Every moment was indescribably torturous for what remained of Fred. He knew that he and Hannah had only five years left if what Belboz had told him was true, and he wished with all his might (which was basically nothing) that he could do something about it.
