Andrea spurred her horse forward. She whinnied and side-slammed the small man. He was thrown through a nearby stable wall. Astra ran over and peeked inside.
"He's gone already. Come, we need to hide."
It was a battle to end all battles. Lackeys of the dragon poured from all entrances to chase down the two rogue ladies. They fought a mighty retreat, chopping up whomever got in their way, trapping others with tilted hay bales, tricking pursuerers into getting knocked into the pond and pig sty and toilet hole. Arrows flew and fists flashed and men grunted in pain.
And so it came to be that Astra and Andrea were hiding on the absolute top section of the keep, which looked over miles of farmland. The moon hung low in the sky, ready to turn into dawn soon. From the radiant moonlight they could see men searching the fields and men searching the buildings below.
"Why do you think they want this keep so bad?" Andrea said.
"Territory is my theory." Astra replied. "If the dragon's lackeys can get this precious farmland and control of your father's lands legally, it will give them a great base to spread their foul evil all over the land."
"Legally? No. Oh no. Not possible. It's a biological thing. Only Croix descendants can rule the land. That's the way it is."
"Foolish girl." said Astra. "Don't you realize? They'll impregnante you, kidnap your child and in twenty years, kill everyone off and install the brainwashed kid as ruler! The dragon is near immortal. He has the time to wait."
Andra's fists clenched and she chewed on her lower lip. "This is insanity."
"Don't worry, girl. Aqularian warriors have many ways of making suicide painless. No men takes advantage of us if we do not want to."
And she told Andrea one such method.
"By all that is holy." she breathed. "But, thank you. I'll never let those foul men have their way with me. Do not worry. It will only be used as a last resort."
The two ladies continued their vigilance from their high perch. What were they to do?
-
They decided to get help. They snuck away through the corn.
-
The roof collapsed below them.
