The Never Ending Quest - Episode 16956

Onyx Shilot led her trusty band of demifoxes up the northern road. She
thrilled at this opportunity to be away from the cramped conditions in
Walants, and even the structured environs of their den to the west; the
wilds was where she felt most alive. Her troup was all dressed in armor
and robes. From a distance they looked to be like human soldier-
children. Their goal was simple enough: investigate the claim of
Minestus' death. Completing this quest would be less than simple.
"Are we there yet?" whined Stat to Tamarin. "You're yapping at the wrong moon, Stat," she answered. "I don't carry compass nor map, I'm just your everyday thief." Indeed she was, as were many demifoxes. Being a small Race meant that the larger ones tended to boss them around. This in turn led the demifoxes to choose their livelyhoods and places of living very carefully; thievery was just one of many ways to survive. "We're two days out from Walants," said Shwyn to Onyx. "How do you feel?" Onyx looked at the older demifox and smiled. "You know me better than that! That is not the reason you asked, what is wrong?" "I still feel troubled that our plan involves our northern cousins with whom we have not spoken in over a year. What if they do not take us in? What if they are no longer there?" "And what if Humans grew from cabbage patches? Sure it could happen, but what are the odds? The Elders thought very carefully over what we are to do, even Hanfast agreed to it. The plan is sound: we travel to den Seanlyn and discover what they know, if anything, of Minestus. They are close enough to the southern Goth for some opportunity of gossip. From there we decide to come home with our news or... venture further north, to the Goth itself, or even unto the lair." "And that possibility does not frighten you?" "Of course it does! But with this sun on my back and the wind on my cheek, it is very easy to ignore." So the band of demifoxes continued northwards, completely ignorant of what had transpired in Walants.
