In a hot and humid jungle far to the south a beast with wings and scales
roared like a thunder storm. The
men and women of the nearby human tribes huddled in fear at the sound. The
sky-god was angry.
The beast's name was Landru. And it was angry for a very good reason. It's master was dead. And its black heart yearned for vengeance. And so, although it had never before left the jungle which had spawned it, the terrible beast now whipped its wings and sailed into the sky. Far to the north lay the lair of its hellish lord and it was there that Landru needed to go. It is a strange thing, is it not, that the dragon Landru knew of the death of its master, for it had taken place so far away and yet not so long ago. But then the ways of dragons are not the ways of men and have ever been full of mystery. Still, the scaly beast was not all knowing nor did it know all. Minestus was dead and Malachi the Traitor had killed him. That was all it knew. Oh, and one other thing. Something else had been there as well. Something that had aided the Traitor. And, while Landru could not exact its revenge from the defeated Traitor, it could seek out satisfaction from anyone who had helped her. There was also another reason that Landru now flew northward like a gale wind high above dark skies. Minestus had been a Great Wyrm, older than almost all of the dragons that now lived. The treasure hoard that Landru's master had acquired over the years was enormous and the magical power buried deep within Minestus' crypts was even more priceless. And Landru wanted it. Almost as much as he wanted vengeance.
