Verbal Fencing Part Two

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 16938

"Certainly not!" cried out Fred in surprise and anger. "It seems that my consideration of your feelings was a waste of time, if that's what you think."

Thessamar too became angered. "YOU are a waste of time!" she yelled. "I simply ask whether you lie with men and you speak to me of considerations! You act as if I have insulted you."

"You have insulted me!" retorted Fred. "What kind of sick woman are you?"

"Sick??? Is it sick for a man to lie with a man? If so then would it be sick for a woman to lie with a man? How else do you northmen beget daughters? The purest way is woman with woman, and let the men have each other until they are needed."

Fred was stunned. There were no words that could describe his feelings, his thoughts, his immediate sensations. When he had first encountered this maiden he thought of her as a fine match, a possible companion in arms and in bed, but now... "You Aqualarians are a twisted breed indeed if there be no Law. In the Great Kingdom we follow a strict code; men know their places as do women, serfs and slaves know theirs as well. Only the possessed seek the comforts of their own gender, and those pitiful bastards are soon found out and taken outside the walls."

Thessamar was stunned. There were no words that could describe her feelings, her thoughts, her immediate sensations. When she had first encountered this knight she saw hope that even a man could be of high worth and it seemed that this was borne true, but now... "Twisted? Possessed? You speak of Law yet your very words betray your lawlessness! Our code bespeaks of compassion and trust and love. The highest love is between women, for men are baser creatures fit only for chores and reproduction. The fact that your world –ruled by men- is full of avarice and lust and vice is proof that this is so. We have no such things in Aqualaria, my home is filled with peace. Where women rule there is only peace!"

Fred fumed. He was repulsed by this creature before him. Then a thought struck him, a deliciously hurtful one. "Then why did you seek the arms of a man?"

The trio trudged along for hours in total silence. The knight and the warrior refused to speak to each other and the dog knew enough to keep his barks to himself. The dog also knew that he was hopelessly lost. Suddenly a scent reached the nostrils of the small canine.

  1. It was the odor of dragon urine...
  2. It was the smell of fresh air...
  3. It was the scent of something he had never smelled before...
