A Disillusioned and Disgruntled Doctor

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 16935

When the Bettys had finished their apologia, the Doctor said: "Harrumph!" For once he sounded much more like William Hartnell than Jon Pertwee.

After a brief pause to compose himself, he went on: "The show may very well be much better when this McCoy fellow takes over, but judging by what we've seen it's certainly not all that good right now. And there could be a risk that if I intervene, and manage to ensure the continuity of the show, that it will change the way things subsequently develop such that this Baker fellow will keep on doing it rather than McCoy taking over from him after one more series. So I suggest that we leave this time and place, and find something more worthwhile for ourselves to do."

  1. The Bettys, a little reluctantly, acquiesce.
  2. The Bettys argue.
  3. Suddenly Inquirer breaks in: "What's going on over there? That wasn't in the script that we were shown."
