Arrivals and Conflicts

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 16664

Meanwhile, within the Pyramid...

A minute ago, Scott, Belinda, and the two Freds and Astras who had been with them had arrived at the ornate dining hall. Introductions had been made, but then scott had seen another Astra, one who had been walking around completely naked, and had made a pass at her. The result was that her corresponding Fred was only barely restraining her from strangling Scott!

Scott was a little shaken by this development. After all, back in Game 3, he had been utterly irresistable to women. Why was this no longer the case? Maybe it was just this woman, he decided. He winked at Belinda, but she scowled back at him and gave him a look that could shatter steel. Apparently, his irresistibility to women had somehow worn off. He hoped that it would be temporary.

Meanwhile, the boy who people thought was the second Velus laughed inwardly. This Scott was so inept. Probably, *he* could have gotten the girl into bed in no time. After all, he was the Master of Illusion and Deceit. He had had no less than 20 girlfriends, and concealed from each of them the existance of the others! This Scott doubtless believed himself to be quite the ladies' man, but he was nothing compared to the Dragon Mage Mordaunt!

At that moment, the Jade Pagoda finally rejoined Compassion. Silverhand stepped out, glad to be outside of it after all those centuries of suspended animation. He walked through the hallway, making his way toward the console room. When he arrived there, he felt the hum of a psychic signal move outward.

Yes, at last, the time had come.

In the dining room, the standoff had simmered down. Scott had apologized to Astra as sincerely as he could manage, claiming that it was the distortion of the transport that had caused him to do it. Astra, though, refused to accept his apology. She was at the moment having an intense telepathic argument with her Fred, while the others were watching and wondering just what was going on between them. Everyone was making a point of avoiding Scott, for no one believed his excuse.

Suddenly, they felt a strange energy enter their minds. They found themselves walking not of their own accord. In one of the dining room walls, a door that had been closed for centuries open, and the Chosen found themselves walking through it. After a walk through a hallway, they found themselves in a large and imposing room, in the center of which was a six- sided console. Standing in front of it was a man. He was tall and imposing, wearing hooded black robes. Beneath the hood could be glimpsed a silver mask, and everyone shuddered at the thought of what might be under it. The eyes of the man under the mask gleamed like silver orbs. One of his hands seemed made not of flesh, but rather of silver. Scott instantly recognized him as the man who had sent him here. [13233]

  1. "Welcome," says the man. "I suppose I have some explanations to give..."
