Romana's Rendevous?

"This is the Doctor requesting permission to land, over?" the voice said over the com panel's speaker.

Romana and Rodan blink, having not expected this person at all. At least....not today. Against her will, Romana found herself smiling a bit for some reason. A touch of, anticipation?

"Don't be utterly ridiculous," she scolded herself. She surely hadn't sunken so low as to be excited at any prospect of meeting a renegade!

Surely....

But despite that admonishment to herself, she gladly takes the task handed to her by the bored Rodan to meet the Doctor where he'll landed for proper greetings to Traffic Control personnel (i.e. herself).

Formalities must be followed and procedures done correctly....

She gives instructions to the Doctor where to land, and then blinks when several voices in the background excitedly speak!

"That's Romana!" a young woman says in the background.

Romana raises her eyebrows at that one......

"I look forward to seeing what this is all about," she says softly to herself as she rose to go greet the incoming TARDIS.

Later, at the Landing Docks....

Romana had gone halfway through the ritualized greetings (the precursor to the questions she had to ask as an official), when the Doctor staggers and says something about an assassination and the President (Romana can see it's somebody that the Doctor says he must stop)! The ones that Romana think are called "Betty" and "Ragan" (Earth folk by the look of it) look at each other with a look of surmise and quickly whispers somethign to the stricken Doctor. The one known as "Inquirer" (odd name) nods and says something about messed up rifle sights and needing to put somebody in their place....again. Then, before Romana can protest or ask what the blazes is going on.....

"Stay with the TARDIS, Lela!" the Doctor shouts as he and the others rush off, "We haven't acclimated you enough yet. It's safer this way for you!"

To the others: "Rush, we don't have much time!!"

And in a flash, the strange group is gone.

She and Romana are now alone in front of the Doctor's TARDIS.....just as had been planned!

Now, the flash of prescience had been real enough....but it had occurred between the time of first radio contact with Romana and now. Making best of a bad situation and wanting to "rope in" Romana in such a way that would be something....hopefully.....more than her just contacting Security. Her aid would make this task easier....hopefully.....

"Oh....what am I going to do?" Romana finds herself asking.

She blinks in surprise at that question.

She knows what she should do and just leave it at that, but..... Why did her hearts race a bit faster at the thought of doing more than just that?

"Well, why don't you go and help?" Lela asks, surprised.

1. This young girl is as the others said she'd be, Lela thinks to herself.
