The terrible scene unfolded exactly as it had done originally. For Fred,
it felt
absolutely real. It was strange to be able to feel things again: the
numbness induced
by the poison (which was different from a total lack of sensation), his
lungs starting
to burn as Astra cut off his air supply. The only mercy was that it was
comparatively
brief, for Astra's asphyxiating hands swiftly led to unconsciousness, to
be followed by death.
The next thing that Fred knew after everything went black was that things were back to what he had come to regard as "normal".
