"...they think I'm a harmless, senile old fool," Qundarian said. "But
that's neither here nor there. Come, I'll being teaching you that which
you need to know to communicate with those who can help you." Fred
followed Qundarian to another section of the cavern, where the old man
proceeded to tell him more of the wandering spirits that shared the cavern
with him, victims of the dragon like himself, and the ways that he might
speak with them. Some of them, he learned, were beyond reaching, however,
as little remained of their sanity after having wandered the caverns
aimlessly for years, having to relive their terrible execution by the
Dragon's men. Yet some of them knew a lot of things that would be of use
to him, and some of them would be able to help him. It was just a matter
of time...
Time. His first lesson had ended, as Qundarian was only human and had
grown weary in his old age. As Qundarian slept, Fred watched, painfully
aware that midnight was drawing near, and the first of many terrible
experiences awaited. Or the second...depending on one's perspective.
Fred felt the paralyzing effects of the snakes' victims permeating his
veins once again, as he found himself lying on the floor...no longer a
simple ghost for the moment it seemed. He tried to get to his feet, but
it was no use...the poison was too strong, and Fred's fears were realized
as he recalled the initial experience leading to his death[15905].
"Fred?" came the female voice...the voice of Astra, the Devil
herself. "I know you know..."
