After a long lecture on the Many Worlds theory of quantum mechanics, the
nature of interactive fiction, and how this particular dwelling appeared to
be a crucial nexus in the spacetime continuum, Fred felt no more
enlightened and considerably more headachy. "I don't suppose you have such a thing as ale in this, er, universe?" he asked hopefully. The woman sighed. "Well, I've got the one wine cooler in the fridge. It's about a year old, 'cause I don't really drink, but, hey they don't go bad, do they?" Moments later, Fred was sitting on the sofa, drinking some strange concoction that he was told ought to taste like strawberries, although he couldn't see it, himself, and wondering just where he had taken a wrong turn. Possibly when he had floated left, he thought. The woman was just standing there, chewing on a fingernail and looking at him in a highly disturbed manner.
