Lord Fred plays the warriors' game, he walks along appearing as if he fully
intends to follow the Dragon. All the while the water they walk beside is
growing darker. Fred remembers the magic his mother had taught him in the
glorious summer afternoons when he was a child. Indeed hide and seek had
served him well. This was not the first occasion in which he had to conjure
up a spell. He did not know how far away the dreaded Dragon perched, so he
quickly began to say the words: Slipping, Slipping out of sight. Pitch

felt to be one's true identity. Fred could get there after only two or
three utterances. He quickly slipped away from the clumsy, and dumbfounded
