Qundarian Speaks to the Dead?

...who looked at them and blinked. "Made a lot of friends, have ye?"
Qundarian asked of Astra. His gaze shifted to her drugged sisters and all
of the men surrounding her. "Get out of our way, old man," Astra ordered
him. Fred just watched the exchange, relatively sure by now that no one
could see him. But could they hear him? "Hello!" Fred called out. No one
moved a muscle in response... Except for the old man. "Hello to you too!"
Qundarian called out to Fred. Astra and the warriors accompanying her
looked around in confusion. "Who are you talking to, you crazy old man?"
Astra asked of Qundarian. Fred wondered. The old man could hear him, but
no one else could...because he was dead. What was it about this strange
old man?
