Discretion, the better part of valor

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 1585

"Get in my closet!" Melissa insisted, pushing him into her room and shutting the door. Fred found himself alone in a strange chamber. In one corner was an unmade bed. On the other side of the room, a strange table covered in unidentifiable objects and boxes. Unusual garments like the ones Melissa had been wearing were scattered all over the floor.

From out in the main chamber of Melissa's dwelling, Fred heard Melissa's voice. "Hi baby, you're early!"

A male voice answered. "Yup. Got any beer?"

Fred glanced around. Melissa had said to hide in her closet. He crossed the room and opened a door. The closet, if that's what this was, was extremely small. With all the clothes in here, there was barely enough room to hide. He made his best effort, hunching down into the tiny space and pulling the door shut. His armor clanked a little.

"What was that?" the man said.

"What was what?" Melissa responded innocently.

The voices came closer. "It came from your room..." The door opened. Fred tried to hold his breath, but the closet was stuffy and he was getting very hot.

The male voice spoke again. "I could have sworn I heard something. You sure there's no one else here?" His voice was thick with jealousy.

"Of course not, baby. Come on, let me get you that beer..." Melissa pleaded.

"Let go of me! I'm sure I heard..." The man sounded angry now.

  1. Fred can bear it no longer. He charges from the closet, sword drawn.
  2. Fred stays as quiet as a mouse.
