~I must find some magical aid in this backwards land before it is too late!~

Astra could not get out of her mind the words of that wizard in the keep, ...now I know that ye are touched by the wyrm's spells, the blood knows...you struggle now but when what it laid in you reveals itself, ye'll do what it had planned... Astra trembled at the thought of being a pawn of the scaled monster, trembled at what that beast may have laid within her. She wished, and not for the first time, that she was home. In Aquilaria she would be surrounded by mother and father and sisters; the HighPriestess and her acolytes would know how to ferret out the malignant work of the Dragon. But she was not. She was here, Allaria: the land of northerners, unreachable by the Shreken due to its evil denizens, unreachable by sea due to the monsters therein. Her people knew little except that only men ruled here and most were soldier- barbarians. The law of equity, of men and women side by side did not assert itself. Astra sighed, she missed her father, her mother.

She also realized that she was utterly, completely, and totally lost. The farmhouse was southeast of the village Chante, she recalled. But in her run from that farmhouse back into the forest she wasn't sure what direction she had gone. Finding this Mother Shipton would not be possible now. The morning sun came from the east, of course, so finding the general way towards the capitol of this land was not a problem. Though she did not like it, she would go south (and southeast in an effort to avoid the men under the Dragon's control) towards this city called Caemlyn. She hoped that along the way she would find a healer, a soothsayer, a sorceress. She also began praying that nothing arcane would befall her in the journey.

1. Soon Astra exited the forest and saw a west-east road...
2. After leaving the forest Astra took in the expanse of the land: low hills rose in the southeast while plumes of smoke rose from some distance in the west, to the south was open plain.
