"Don't bother looking into the other cells," Belinda said. "They're all
empty.
The dragon kept us here on our own. We were his honoured guests, he told
us. But though
our cell had wall to wall carpeting and an en suite bathroom, [4663-3] it
was still
a cell." "We should not waste time talking," Astra said. "Let us be away."
Being careful not to make a sound, they succeeded in creeping out past the lions without alerting them, and made their way to where Fred and Astra had left their boat. Soon Fred was rowing them across the lake towards the landing stage from where they had originally obtained the boat. Fred noted that the two younger girls bore a definite family resemblance to Astra. As befitted Aqualarians, and especially that country's royalty, they were far taller and fitter than most Allarian girls of their age. At eighteen, Princess Belinda probably would not grow any taller than her current five feet ten inches. Her hair was blonde. She would usually keep it cut fairly short, but in her time in imprisonment it had grown to rather longer than shoulder-length. Princess Carola at fourteen was already five feet seven. Like Astra, she was a redhead. Her hair was a similar length to Belinda's. "We have the mnost difficult part still to come," Fred told the others as he rowed. "It will take us at least three days to get out of the caverns. [4739] Long before then, your escape will have been reported, so all the dragon's forces will be hunting for us." Carola shivered. "I don't even want to think about what the dragon might do to us should we be recaptured," she said. "Then let's make sure it doesn't happen," Astra said, trying to sound more confident than she felt.
